Exploratory Data Analysis with MATLAB
MathWorks
Even though Python, R and others are getting more and more popular, MATLAB is still irreplaceable and indispensable in some fields. If you are willing to refresh your MATLAB skill set, don’t miss this official course from MathWorks. It is quite easy to sign up an MathWorks account, get a student license, and download the latest version of MATLAB, then you are good to go!
This course primarily focuses on exploratory data analysis (EDA). It first spends some time on data science workflow, then focus on the importing, visualizing and computing of data. The course puts an emphasis on the Categorical data type. Please get yourself familiar with a few functions which deals with Categorical data. They are essential to pass the final homework assignment, in which you will work as a data scientist for an insurance company, and help the company to make decisions on where to send resources after Hurricane Harvey.
It is extremely easy to convert the actions on GUI to code and save in Live Script. I really love it. But the bad news is MATLAB really consumes lots of computation and memory resources, if you load too much data. My (a little bit old) Mac laptop were very slow and even not responsive. Anyway, “my love to MATLAB” probably will be a good reason to buy a new and powerful computer.
